The Pines Calyx, Conference and Training Venue for the South-East

Welcome to The Pines Calyx, the U.K.'s most sustainable conference venue and events centre, located in six acres of organic parkland, within sight and sound of the sea next to the White Cliffs of Dover, yet within easy reach of London and Europe (see our Location page for more details).

Three event rooms offer great flexibility for a wide variety of events:

The Pines Calyx project arose out of a passion for sustainability and for healthy enterprise in equal measure, along with the search for models applicable to the rapidly emerging low carbon economy - a symbol or icon which would use sustainable methods of construction and minimise energy use whilst creating an environmentally efficient building which would be positively healthy for those who would use it.

The Pines Garden is immediately accessible from the centre, and the adjoining landscaped terrace affords a spectacular cliff top view out across the Channel.

Built by Helionix Designs for local environmental and educational charity The St Margaret’s Bay Trust, this award-winning, pioneering environmental architecture combines the use of heritage building techniques (e.g. rammed chalk walls and timbrel vaulting) with leading edge sustainable technologies (e.g. earth tube heating system and computer controlled lighting replicating the positive effects of natural daylight).
